Wisdom

I consider myself really fortunate to have people in my life who are amazing mentors and role models. I just met with one who had recently retired from a very senior job, her choice. As we were talking about the transition, she said something to me that struck me:

What was in the background now comes into the foreground.”

I knew exactly what she meant. Work demands your attention..it is the hot cup of coffee in your lap. But there are a lot of other important things which may be small but meaningful that fade into the background. Try to make sure you pay attention.

A silly small thing. We have had our queen bed for ages. It’s not that comfortable. We had hip and back pain. But we just put up with it.  So I made the decision to get a king bed on sale: new sheets, new headboard. I feel delighted every night (it’s like a hotel).

So don’t wait too long for those things that can make you happy.
