I am starting to notice it more and more…..it’s silence. You know when you send an email to people, and there’s no response? or you send a meeting invite, and there’s a whole bunch of “no response”. It’s the ultimate passive aggressive behavior that isn’t a yes, and it isn’t a no.  It’s just….nothing.

So I have to say, I find it super annoying and disrespectful. If you don’t agree with me, tell me. If you think the idea is ok, tell me. If you have a conflict with a meeting, tell me. But don’t leave everything up in the air and make me have to guess what you’re thinking. Because at the end of the day? No response is not a neutral act, it’s a hostile act.

So if you’re one of those people who don’t respond….stop it. Give the person who took the time to reach out to you the courtesy of a response. Don’t think it doesn’t matter…because it does.
