{"id":1529,"date":"2015-12-19T11:36:38","date_gmt":"2015-12-19T11:36:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mylessonslearned.co\/?p=1529"},"modified":"2015-12-19T11:36:38","modified_gmt":"2015-12-19T11:36:38","slug":"radical-candor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mylessonslearned.co\/?p=1529","title":{"rendered":"Radical Candor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I came across this post from one of my favorite blogs, A Cup of Jo and\u00a0it really resonated with me&#8230;this idea of <a href=\"http:\/\/firstround.com\/review\/radical-candor-the-surprising-secret-to-being-a-good-boss\/\"><strong>radical candor<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you might say to me being honest isn&#8217;t so radical. But the truth is, we&#8217;re\u00a0bad at\u00a0this at the times we need to do it most: when our employees are stumbling or failing. We don&#8217;t want to hurt someone&#8217;s feelings. We feel bad when we&#8217;re being negative. It feels judgey.\u00a0 It&#8217;s easier to retreat and not say anything.<\/p>\n<p>Kim Scott, a coach, talks about the two axis of <strong>caring personally and challenging directly. <\/strong>\u00a0I love this concept because the reality is, I have found that I can always give <em>really direct feedback<\/em> as long as <strong>the person recognizes it comes from a place of positive intent for them<\/strong>.\u00a0 And as long as I&#8217;m being clear and fair, they get it.\u00a0 They may not always agree, but it&#8217;s always a productive conversation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Click here for the link.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I came across this post from one of my favorite blogs, A Cup of Jo and\u00a0it really resonated with me&#8230;this idea of radical candor.
